Anaglyphs . Yosemite National Park, Sierra Nevada Mountains . California . 2009

This portfolio of landscape photographs are taken at two historic U.S. parks, JOSHUA TREE and YOSEMITE, in early 2009. The sixty-five stereo images in the series uniquely represent the beauty, depth, and expansiveness of the locales’ mountain ranges, sequoias groves, cacti filled deserts, and canyon enclosed rivers.
The series was shot using a 1950’s Kodak stereo camera, with the 35mm film scanned hi-resolution, and paired “side-by-side” with its complement. The dual photographs were then reduced to a single “anaglyph” image, where viewers wear cyan/red glasses to perceive the effect of three-dimensions. The final pictures are digitally framed in black, mimicking the aperture of a vintage camera.
